Chukwunenye Microfinance Bank Ltd was floated by the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi who is also the Chief Promoter and Major shareholder, with the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese as its Alta Ego. As one of the leading Microfinance banks in Nnewi, Anambra State of Nigeria, it was founded by the former Catholic Bishop of Nnewi - Most Rev. Hilary Odili Paul Okeke with the concept of a family geared towards enhancing values and protecting the wealth of the people within the diocese and general public at large.
The Bank was originally registered and incorporated as United Orumba Community Bank Ltd on 11th October 1994 and subsequently commenced operations with CBN provisional license No. 0732. Later, it was acquired and renamed Chukwunenye Community Bank Ltd and commenced operations in July 2005. On 29th October 2007, it fully migrated to Microfinance bank and finally licensed to operate on February 15, 2008 with license No. 255095. Its registered office used to be at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Cathedral Premises, Nnobi Road, Nnewi but now at 35 Nnobi Road beside the Cathedral Premises.
